Yesterday was the Dragon Boat Festival in Hong Kong and normally a series of dragon boat races are held on this particular day. This is a tradition passed down from ancient China since 278 BC. Many of the corporates usual participants as corporate teams. Almost all the banks in Hong Kong (Goldman, JP Morgan, Barclays..etc) and the large corporates (Bloomberg, Factset, Accounting firms…) have one or more corporate boat competed in the annual dragon boat race.
35 races proceeded in quick succession on the 380m course at Stanley beach.
Many of the participating corporates or organizations have their own junk boats parted along the two sides of the competition area. I was honoured to be invited by the embassy of Austria to join their junk boat for cheering for ‘Team Austria’.
