Where to stay in Phuket

August 23, 2016 9 Comments

I’m all in for private villa with pools when it comes to beach holidays. I have been to Phuket half a dozen times, it is such an easy beach getaway destination given that it is only 3-hour flight away from Hong Kong , along with the benefits of nice tropical beaches, cheap and tasty eats and cheap water activities. I have pretty much stayed at every corner of the island and my advice to you is that, unless you want be tucked away for a romance getaway with your other half and cut the rest of the world out, I would suggest you to stay somewhere with relatively central location, so you won’t be stuck in the traffic forever from point A to B on those narrow two-way streets when taxi fares are not exactly cheap for the foreigners. Here are my tips for some of the best stays in Phuket.

Romantic getaway

The two tips of the island are best for romantic getaway with amazing view of the sunset and perfect for a stroll with your romantic other half on the beautiful white sands. SALA Phuket and Sri Panwa will give the completely private beach and amazing sunset view from your villa. Each of the villas comes with a private pool. After all, privacy scores extra points for romantic getaways.

If you have the time to travel, you should also consider the small islands around Phuket. Pipi island is one of the most famous island next to Phuket, however, it is more of a party island than a Romanic getaway. The true beauties are The Naka Island & The Racha,  Six Sense Yao Noi.

Bachelor or Bachelorette Party trips

In this case, you don’t want to stay somewhere too far off from where all the actions are, which is Patong beach. Patong recently opened one of the top 100 clubs in the world, Illusion and at any given night the club is filled with at least 1000 people and sometimes up to 3000 people. It is a lot bigger than many of the clubs on the Vegas strip and the club is filled with the latest LED nights and stereo sound system.  Unfortunately, no hotels really stand out at patong beach and most of them are already very old. The newly arrived design hotel of the year 2015, The Naka Phuket and the renounced hotel Banyan Tree are located only 10 – 15 mins drive away from Patong. The Naka Phuket and Banyan Tree both only have private pool villas. The Naka Phuket has private beach access, and  Banyan Tree has a slightly different setting, it is located next to a lagoon. Trisara sits right between the two and probably have the most amazing sunset viewing point among the three resorts.
